Notes from Sybase Developer Days

I wasn't so much focused on what they were demonstrating for PowerBuilder 12 as I was for what they were saying publicly about their plans for the future now that PowerBuilder 12 is out.  There was actually quite a bit of good information in this regard, including a roadmap slide (with standard disclaimers applying), a portion of which I've provided below.

Essential iPad applications

I had an iPod Touch for a while so I could explore the platform before deciding to buy the iPad or an iPhone.  I found the iPod Touch quite useful, but nothing like the iPad (despite my original impressions, it's not just an iPod Touch on steroids).

Now that I've used the iPad for a while, I thought I might share what I find to be the applications I use the most.

In case you missed the Sybase Developer Days road show...

They are doing a webinar on the new PowerBuilder.Net features on Wed, May 26th.  The registration page says it's the 6th as I write this, but hopefully that will be corrected soon.

SAP buys Sybase...

Seems they were after their database and mobility components.  Not sure what this means for the rest of the company (e.g., tools).

Flex on the iPhone

What do the following 3 images have in common (beside being butt-ugly, which is a result of my meager design skills)?

If you said they're from the same "Hello World" application, you'd be largely correct.  The first is a Flash application generated from Flex Builder running in a web browser.  The second is a somewhat modified version of the same application running as a native application on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device.  The third is that same modified version running as a native application on an iPhone.
